Orthopedic Surgical Outreach
Prosthetics Outreach Foundation partners with the American Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) each year to send teams of experienced orthopedic surgeons from the United States to Vietnam. These surgeons volunteer their services to help build local surgical capacity so that disabled children and adults can walk again. U.S. surgeons work side by side with local medical colleagues to surgically correct limb deformities. The international team provides training and education as well as boosts the local doctors’ surgical skills – one of the great benefits of this program. In Vietnam, approximately 60 children and adults receive orthopedic surgery in Vietnam for foot deformities each year through this surgical outreach program.
