Vietnamese amputee tends her garden

Board Member Bernice Kegel, RPT (not pictured), is volunteering in Haiti providing physical therapy to earthquake survivors. Reports Ms. Kegel, "I cannot believe how creative one can become when you have to. I used string to measure the residual limb. I have a sharpie pen that I treat like gold. I write all the information I can on the casts. I have been posting information on the wall behind the bed. I have been teaching parents. It is exhausting and they are so distracted by all theïr other problems. I feel very good about the care my 11 young patients have gotten. There is nothing more I can do for them other than bring them home with me, which is not an option."
