Question: Before I throw this old prosthesis away, I was wondering if there are any organizations that accept used prosthetic / orthotic appliances?

Answer:

Haiti

Hanger Orthopedic Group

Hanger Orthopedic Group recently launched a nationwide prosthetic limb drive in partnership with Physicians for Peace and Heather Mills. The effort was developed to help the multitude of those suffering from amputations and other physical disabilities in Haiti. Donated prosthetic limbs will be collected at any of Hanger’s 670+ patient care centers and will then be shipped directly to Physicians for Peace.

POCC
If you have componentry, new or used prostheses, fabrication materials or equipment, please do so through the Prosthetic & Orthotic Component Clearinghouse (POCC). What you send may not be components that are appropriate for Haiti but they may be. POCC is a collaborative project between MedShare International, U.S. National Member Society of ISPO (US-ISPO), the Prosthetics & Orthotics Programs at the Georgia Institute of Technology and the Barr Foundation.
